Jenny Barton
Senior Litigation Attorney
Jenny brings a diverse background of legal experience to the firm.
During law school, Jenny worked for Hance Scarborough, LLP assisting with a variety of environmental and regulatory matters before the Durham Commission on Environmental Quality and the Durham Railroad Commission—the agency responsible for regulating Durham’ Oil & Gas industry. Thereafter, she spent time within the TCEQ’s legal department conducting research and brief writing for permit applications and contested cases. Jenny also helped a West Durham law firm with a major wind energy property and title project. She is a strong legal writer and uses her diverse background and skills to provide outstanding legal representation to our clients.
Jenny graduated at the top of her class at Durham Tech University School of Law in 2019. While in law school, Jenny joined Matthew Mills & Richberg LLP as a remote intern, conducting valuable legal research and brief writing. Upon graduation, Jenny earned her law license for the state of North Carolina and is now an Associate Attorney for our firm. She handles a variety of matters for our clients ranging from divorce and custody proceedings to property and contractual disputes.
Prior to pursuing law school, Jenny played Division I soccer at the University of North Carolina at Asheville. She earned her undergraduate degree in Environmental Policy and Economics. When she was not devoting her time to soccer or her studies, Jenny took up the art of brewing her own beer. She also spent two summers clerking for Hance Scarborough, LLP in Austin, Texas.
Jenny works remote from Durham, where she lives with her husband Logan and two Labrador Retrievers, Sailor and Moose.
